I finally updated my 35+ year old no name press to the RCBS RC. So far, very happy with it, but it has the removable bushing and I noticed that when I adjust a die and lock the lock ring it manages to bind to the bushing and when I remove the die the bushing comes out with it. Obviously, two wrenches solves that, but it's annoying and sometimes messes up the adjustment if the lock ring slips.

Issue 2 - some of my newer dies have the lock ring with the little brass screw that pushes agains the threads instead of pinching the ring. Doesn't seem to hold well and if I tighten too much it buggers up the die threads a bit. I stuck a small piece of foam in the hold and then tightened the screw and seemed to work. Anyone have a better solution besides buy different lock rings?

Replace the foam with a small piece of lead (lead shot, piece of solder, trimming from a bullet,...).

Use loctite for the bushing.

I find Hornday Sure-Loc rings to be one of the best lock rings made.

Yep.  I replace all RCBS style lock rings with Hornady lock rings.

Hornady rings are good, they could be a tad thinner though IMO.

Standard fix is a flattened #6 shot between set screw and die threads.

Of course not needed with Hornady lock rings.

Thanks for the tips. I actually have some Hornady rings but not enough for all dies. I do like them. The lead shot is a good tip too.

Use the Hornady Lock N Load conversion bushing, and setup your dies in the LNL bushings, quick change after you get the dies set.

Very accurate and fast.

Oh and use locktite on the conversion bushing
