i'm referring to fully encapsulated bullets versus open (lead exposed) base bullets.

are there any advantages to either types or is the open base bullet a cost savings option?

I've shot both types and haven't seen any difference in accuracy.

just wondering.

thanks.

The only reason for the closed base is for indoor ranges to cut airborne lead.

I haven't noticed any differences when shooting them.

thanks dryflash.

I should add that the bullets I was referring to are armscor 230 gr. .45 acp projectiles rated at +P velocities.

open base with what looks like brass jackets.

If you mean, pistol bullets....... no no real difference, except as already noted, the lead free deal...

But if you mean rifle bullets, especially at distance, then yes there is.
