What has been people's experience with Armscor 55gr FMJBT bullets? I've been thinking of buying some of thier bulk packs

Thanks in advance

The ones I had shot patterns instead of groups.

Get Hornady 55 gr FMJBT's for the best results.

Same experience with their 62 gr.

Bought a few thousand years ago and still have about 500 loaded that I'm trying to use up.

Mainly use it for short range practice/blaster ammo.

I bought 3K @ $56/1000.   I would not buy again even at that price.

I haven't tried the 22 55's but I have gone through almost 3k 30 cal 110's (carbine bullets). I am using them in 30-30.

Yes, they are plinking bullets but over 90% of our shots are standing shots at steel targets with 50yo winchesters.

For the heck of it, I ran some in my scoped relatively new Winchester hunting rifle. I noted that they actually grouped slightly better than the Hornady 110's. but to be clear, I haven't optimized each for that rifle and was running different powders.

My point? For the 12c I paid for the 30 cal 110's, I am quite happy compared to the Hornady's that cost considerably more.

If I was going to save the same percentage difference on 55's, I may consider it for cheap plinking ammo. But the Hornady's are so cheap already that I doubt the Armscor would be worth it.

I must be tired tonight, Dryflash.  I first read your post as getting "one shot groups."  Because it was Armscor bullets, it made sense at first.

I agree.  I loaded up 55 gr rounds from 26.0 all the way to 25.8 grains (CFE223) and did not get a single decent group.  I'll never buy them again.

If you want FMJ's that are cheap and shoot, Hornady is only ones that you can actually shoot tight groups with.

The prvi sp's are cheap and they seem to shoot pretty good, edit to add, and don't know what I am doing.

I just started buying Armscor projectiles and haven't shot much of them. Last weekend I loaded up 15 rounds of 55 grain .223 with 23.6 grains of H335 and shot them. I noticed they aren't accurate, they were still on paper but high left on the target. I also just ordered 500 .308 147 grain Armscor projectiles; they should be here this week sometime.

Here's my take on them. I don't have a lot of extra money; I do enjoy shooting Hornady bullets but at $25 for a box of 100 they get pricey. I haven't been able to find anywhere to get them cheaper and in bulk packs greater than 100. All I do is plink and punch holes in paper and shoot at steel plates at 100 yards. I don't hunt and I don't compete. I do it for fun and relaxation. So, if I can load up 500 rounds of .223 or 500 rounds of .308 with bullets of questionable accuracy and still hit paper or a steel target at 100 yards for less than $100 then I'm OK with it. When I want to go punch the center out of a target I'll bring a box of factory ammo.

I guess what I'm saying is that for general plinking ammo or punching holes in paper for me, the Armscor projectiles are OK. But for accurate ammo I'll use factory ammo or load up some Hornady. For defensive loads I'll use factory ammo. Like I said in another thread, I'm not looking to draw smiley faces with my ammo, I don't care where they hit on a paper target or a steel plate as long as they are putting holes in it or making a "ding" sound I'm OK with it.

If I had a more disposable income then yeah, I'd gladly buy more of the more accurate projectiles but since I don't, I'll take the most of whatever I can get cheaply.

At $25 a box, you are paying 2 prices for Hornady 55 gr FMJ.

You need to shop around and follow the tacked "where to find" thread and cut your price in half.

I've never bought anything from Natchez but just saw they have them for $10/100 so I'm going to start buying them from there.

Watch for sales on 6,000 pc boxes of Hornady 55gr fmj and SP, last one I bought was $419 with free shipping.

Unfortunately I'm not an ARFcomillionaire and that's a bit out of my budget. I usually buy 500 projectiles at a time because that's what I can afford.

Great. I just bought a pack of 1,000 (Armscor) for $100 (62 gr. I think). Sounds like I am not going to be too thrilled...

Load them with the thought they are just for plinking and not defense or accuracy and you won't be so disappointed.

I had decent luck with their 62 grain bullets.   my son uses them to practice with since they shoot nearly the same as his hunting load.  I have never shot any other Armscor products.

I just went to place an order for 400 Hornady FMJBT bullets at $9.99 a pop and they want $20 for USPS shipping and $12 for FedEx Smartpost (which I will not use); that's INSANE.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the FedEx Smartpost I'd order but I've had a lot of bad luck with FedEx losing my orders and delivering to houses several blocks away.

Before I moved two years ago I never had a problem with FedEx. After I moved they lose stuff, deliver things t the wrong address or just don't show up. I avoid ordering from places that use FedEx.

I got 1000 of them, have like 200 left.  I dont mind them.  Not great groups at 100 yards, but all my shots at 50 yards were within about an inch of each other.

But it's still initially shipped via FedEx. I've been at my new house two years now and they still fuck up my deliveries. It's almost like I need to take a day off work and sit at the end of my driveway and flag those fuckers down. I just don't trust anything with the words FedEx even if the end result is delivery via USPS.
