My powder is cFE pistol. The start load is 3.7 BUT uses a different primer than I have in house.
How should I proceed? Try to find cci500 primers or assume winchesters are just as good and move forward?
Thanks.

I don't believe there is much difference between small pistol primers so I would go ahead and load. I wouldn't try to go with small pistol magnum primers though.

The Winchesters will be fine. The primers are fairly close to the same. The loading books will test their loads with one primer brand rather using different brands with the same bullets. As long as your not at of over the max load you will be fine.

Load them up good sir.

The start load is where you can substitute like but different brand components.

Then work up from there.

My load for minor PF is 4.0 gr. with a 147 gr lead bullet. I interchange CCI and Winchester primers with no powder changes for all my 9, 40 and 45 pistol loads.

Hey op, just out of curiosity, what bullets and oal will you be using?

OP: unless your pistol is a CZ75, you can probably load to a nice safe OAL of 1.140 to 1.150".  I'd suggest that OAL as long as your gun's throat can handle it.

He might have trouble with magazines if he goes that long.   Glock mags will bind up if you have them out that far.

I'm not having any issues with 1.145"-1.150" in my Glock (xtreme 147gr  and 165gr round nose), but 1.165" was a complete no-go due to mag binding.

Is there an advantage to loading that long?

I load all 9mm round nose to 1.135ish.

All our 9mms are Glocks and they just run like sewing machines at that length.

My 124 and 147 jackets are loaded 1.150" forever it seems like

Shouldn't have said that... now for bragging rights... total of (3000) in ammo cans waiting for someday.

Jeez, like little soldiers, about to go off to war!

After I responded I thought "does MG even make a 147?" That's just the last 9mm I was loading; I'll check after I have coffee.

I have a little bit left of rounds I have loaded with MG 147's.   I don't remember the OAL but I remember they were binding up in my mags and I ended up running some of them through the press a 2nd time to shorten the OAL.   Ever since that I always stayed on the shorter side.
