I've been using a digital scale for a while now.  While it seems to be accurate and holding zero, I decided I needed a reliable backup.  I ordered a Hornady Balance Beam.  Seems to get good reviews and should do what I need it to do.

So what's your favorite?

I have had a RCBS balance beam type forever, I assume (hope) the new ones are still quality scales.

I had a digital scale for about a month. Chucked it right in the trash.  Only had one beam scale at its a Lee.

I had an RCBS scale for years.  I just bought a Dillon last year and like it a lot.

I used a Lyman beam scale for years - until I recently figured out it's off on the secondary poise.

I've ordered a new Redding, but It hasn't arrived yet.

I've grown much more comfortable with my electronic scale, but I still want a good beam scale around.

I mostly use my Ohaus M5. Very good scale.

I have a few others, from Lee scales to an autocharge with its scale. My most interesting is probably my Dial-O-Grain but it is really huge so I don't use it much.

mines a rcbs 5-10 beam scale, i have had it since the mid 70's and have no reason to replace it. still going strong and i like it!

Came here to post this exact same note.

I've been using the same RCBS 10-10 since 1981 or so.  No reason to change.

I've had some of the cheap digital scales, but have no confidence in them because of drift.

RCBS 505. Your Hornady should be fine.

The key is mounting it solid, level, and at eye level unless you like parallax error.

Hornady scale has nice crisp etched graduations, cheaper than RCBS and just as accurate.

I love mine.

You chose wisely.

Thank you Sir.  It was a toss-up between the Hornady and RCBS.  RCBS has a rebate running right now and I was very tempted.  The Hornady just seems to be a better value and appears to be made in the USA.
