About to send off 1500 rounds of 556 to get converted to 300blk. Should I have it annealed? Do you anneal between each reloading?
How many times do you use brass before you anneal it?, if ever? Edit: sending it off because my current dies are Redding but they are 221/300 fireball. Decided to get 300 BLK dies. They are on order and haven't arrived yet. |

Anneal every time before forming the shoulder. Like in 300 blk. Not after shoulder is formed. You might want to ask before you spend the money. I would never buy formed cases myself as I want to be in total charge of QC and know my formed cases will chamber. How often depends on purpose of load and caliber of case. When my 300 blk cases reach 5 firings, I will anneal them again. |

Part of the reason for annealing before initial forming is to make sure the shoulder stays where the die puts it. I anneal about every 5th firing or so. I also don't trust someone else to process my brass (especially when it comes to annealing), but that's just me. I'm an engineer and I study metallurgy among other things, so I'm probably more particular than most
