Powder Valley says Tula will no longer be importing primers.  Can anyone confirm or deny this?  Without Tula, who makes the best/cheapest primers for ARs?

lots of people have been stocking up on the attractive priced S&B primers. Everyone has an experience to share. For a few dollars more I prefer sticking with CCI and Federal.

YMMV

When did primers join the list?  Ammunition isn't (see Wolf, Tula, Golden Tiger, Barnaul) etc.

This would make me very sad.

I guess I'll go back to CCI's.

It's complicated as usual. The products you listed that are still available (not banned) do not come from plants in the banned area.

They may be owned by a Russian parent company but are made in places like the Czech Republic.

The way it was done (executive order import ban) years ago was to stop approving import permits for affected items from the affected regions.  There was a well publicized incident in California in the late 90's where several million rounds of ammunition were seized and impounded before law enforcement requested the import documentation.  It turns out everything was in order, and they had to give it all back.  I believe it was reported that the typical time from the application to import was between 18 months and 24 months.

Edit: Hmmm, not exactly as I remember:

My knowledge might be a few years out of date but I thought every "Russian" ammunition came from Russian plants.  Wolf and Tula are from Tula, the Bears are from Barnaul, and golden Tiger is from Vympel.  All are in Russia.  Where are the primers made that would forbid their import?

Russia.

What's not to understand?  The origin of the products are printed right on the boxes.  There is still a decent amount of old stock around so don't think something isn't banned from import because you saw some for sale. I bought a brick of Tula primers a couple weeks ago but they are on the import ban list, at least that is the common belief.

I've had good experience with S&B primers.
They go bang every time and I don't get light primer strikes.
I just recently bought a bunch of S&B SPP & LPP primers when they were on sale for $19.99/1000
I used a discount coupon and my points for the year on my Cabela's card and ended up paying $16.77 each after tax.
Needless to say, I stocked up.

I haven't seen indications of this.  Everyone is buying and selling Russian ammo like it is still coming in.  When the Feds ban stuff, we usually hear about it immediately, through suppliers etc.  Remember the 7n6 ban?  The ban on Saiga?  All were well publicized.  If cheap Russian ammo is on the block...why aren't all the suppliers saying so, then jacking up the prices?  Especially on 7.62x39 ammo which is the lifeblood of the AK community.

Have you heard anything specific, or is it just an assumption?
