I bought a new 'Just Right Carbine' in 9mm with a 17" barrel and is of blow back design. I havn't fired it yet but when I do I will bring some CCI Brass and Aluminum factory 115gr ammo just to check it out.
I am also going to hand load for it. Powders I have are Ramshot ZIP, CFE Pistol and Accurate #5 and will use jacketed or plated bullets only. I know 147gr bullets are not suited for a carbine so I got some 115gr. hollow base FMJ bullets from Rocky Mountain Reloading. Below is published data for the three propellants that I have on hand.. any suggestions on where I should start? Hodgdon indicates 5.3gr to 5.9gr of CFE Pistol under 115gr Speer Gold Dot HP, maximum FPS is 1185 from a 4" barrel Ramshot ZIP indicates 3.8gr to 4.4gr under 115gr FMJ bullet , max FPS is 1089 from 4" barrel. Accurate AAC #5 shows 5.4gr to 6.3gr under 115g FMJ bullets, max FPS is 1148 from a 4" barrel. Would slower burning propellants like Power Pistol or Blue Dot be better suited for a carbine application? Are there any Do's and Don't Do's when loading pistol calibers for a carbine? Thanks Much VonBark |

I know 147gr bullets are not suited for a carbine My experience is that 147 grain bullets are the best choice for carbine length barrels. As far as powder goes, use what you like. The slowest burning powder which gives you the highest velocity will do so in both a 4" as well as a 16" barrel. Power Pistol is a good choice. In handgun length barrels, it is kind of flashy. In a carbine barrel, not so much. |

Any bullet will suffice for 9mm, no matter barrel length.. Longer barrel, use a middle of road powder.. WORD -- SKIP the Bue Dot, by time you get any powder in the case, you have nowhere to seat a bullet.. Use Accurate 7 if you want a Blue Dot substitute..
"Ramshot ZIP, CFE Pistol and Accurate #5" <-- any of those should do the job,, dont be afraid of lead for cheaper shooting, just got to get past the muzzle exhaust of lube burn off bullet |

Thanks Much VonBark As others have said, not true. I'm running 147 xtreme & XTp's using titegroup for open & suppressor rounds. For just plinking it's 124's |

Look on hodgden's website for bullets labeled BERB which are berry's plated bullets. |
