Some back round, I use the die in a Dillon 550.  I got them used from a friend, they were lightly used and I cleaned them prior to use.  I loaded about 1k rounds with 115 gr FMJ to coal 1.15".  Of those I got about 20 randomly which were loaded short to a coal of 1.0" for some reason.

I changed to 45 and loaded 3k before I went back to do more 9mm.

Now every cartridge came out short.  It seems that the stem was getting stuck and did not want to move.  I took apart the die, everything seems okay and cleaned it again.  I played with it more and seems to be moving freely so I re-installed it.  About half comes out short now.  Any advice what I can or should do?  It's my first competition seater, getting ready to go back to my old reliable standard seating die.

Thanks in advance
