I am looking at getting a rcbs bench mounted primer pocket swager, are they worth the money over a press mounted? I already have a press mounted and have not really used it a whole lot but have a ton of Mil brass the few times I have used it it was slow and kind of a pain in the ass. If it doesn't get better I will just have to suck it up. Thanks

IMO, the bench mount swaggers are better than the die in press type.
I've had both the RCBS and the Dillon bench mount. I prefer the RCBS, but both do the same thing. To me the RCBS is a bit better ergonomically, but again it's just my opinion. I used the reamers for years and my fingers get cramped after a couple hundred rounds. I know it's expensive, but a guy ought to try all methods and decide for himself what works better for him. You can always sell quality reloading tools. |
| After the last time I had to swage with the RCBS die I finally broke down and bought the Dillon Super Swage. It was SO much easier to use . . . I can't believe I wasted so much time before buying it. I have limited space on my bench so I just screwed it into a piece of 2 x 4 and just clamp it down to a little table in the garage when I need to use it. |
| I've got the kit to swage on my 650 during the prep cycle. I haven't installed it yet though. Ideally I will deprime min station 1, ball expander and swage in station 2, 3 is empty, 4 is resize and trim, 5 is empty. Brass comes out deprimed, swaged, resized and trimmed in one pass. |
