With the shortage of handgun reloading powder it's been tough to find the usual suspects. My buddy found a couple pounds of Red Dot shotgun powder on a recent trip. I have read that people had good luck using it to reload .45 and sometimes 9mm. I recently loaded up a batch of .45 using a 200 gr. plated Xtreme bullet over 4.7 grains of the Red Dot. Everything shot fin (smelled like shooting my shotgun What experiences do any of you have with using Red Dot for handgun? What recipes have you had success with? Next time I'm gonna try 9mm. Any suggestions? |

I've used it for 9mm, .40, and .45.
9mm: 3.0-3.2 grains for 147gr .40 Minor load: 2.7 grains with 200gr bullet Major load: 3.5 grains with 200gr bullet .45 4.1 grains with 230gr bullet I'm using Bullseye for most of what I do now but I keep Red Dot on the shelf as a backup. |
