I have both a Dillon 650 and a 1050 and I have a few shell plate question.
On the 650, are the 9mm and .40S&W shell plates the same plates, and are the .45ACP and the .308 the same plate?? Similar question on the 1050. Can the .308 shell plate on the 1050 also be used for .45ACP?? If these calibers share the same shell plate, it stands to reason that for a caliber change, I only need to change the tool head, correct?? Thanks in advance, NH_Patriot |

Yes, some parts are interchangeable between conversion kits. http://thegunwiki.com/apps/calconversion/ |

On the 650:
The 45ACP and 308win use the same shell plate as well as the 30-06 The 9mm shell plate is different from the 40S&W. The 40S&W is the same as 10mm and 357SIG though. 223Rem is the same as 380acp. There are others that are compatible with multiple calibers. The back of the manual tells which plate each caliber uses. |

I just found that in the back of the manual. It looks like the 1050 also uses the same plate for 45ACP & .308 Looks like another 1050 in .308 and a quick change tool head for .45ACP, might be a good investment!!! |

No and Yes - No, 9mm and 40/10mm do not share the same rim diameter so the shellplates for all Dillon presses are different for these calibers. Yes, the 308 and 45acp share the same diameter rim so you can use the same shellplates in any Dillon press for both these calibers. Similar question on the 1050. Thanks in advance, NH_Patriot Download the Manuals for both presses HERE. In the 650 manual, pages 45 (Pistol) and 46 (Rifle) show the individual parts needed for each caliber so you can decide what you need for individual calibers. The corresponding parts for the 1050 will also be needed. |
