Wads? Waa12 and waa12f114, Check.
Primers? Federal 209A, Check. Hulls? Win AA, Remington STS, Check. Powder? Unique, Check. Slugs? Lyman 525gr, Check. Problem is I have all matching components for a published load but my primers are federal 209a and the recipe calls for win 209. I know federal 209a primers are hotter. Can i load 2-3 grains less powder and use the hotter primer? Cannot find any published data for my combo above. I may get 4/5 but not all matching. |
| It may help to ask or search here http://castboolits.gunloads.com/forumdisplay.php?36-Casting-for-Shotguns My Lee 12 ga key drive slug data said its ok to reduce there listed charges by 10% Your using a fast powder (Unique) that works well when down loaded. But reducing the powder charge by more than 10% may leave a wad in the barrel? You can tell by the sound & recoil if the load is too light. Use this info at your own risk. |

I should add, when reducing the powder charge, the crimp will change. This may require a different wad that is longer or for a 1 oz shot load. Its best to follow the load recipe by buying the correct primer, if they can be found. http://i338.photobucket.com/albums/n420/joe1944usa/FirearmsReloading102/Win12gawads1999.jpg I was afraid you were going to say that. . . Makes sense, I'll check the local fun shop to see if they have any win primers. Thanks! |

I'll just look for some winchester 209 primers and play it safe! Thanks for your response. |
