I used to use one at my back yard shooting bench when working up loads for my Sharps and other rifles.
I'll still use on now and then for some loading operations that I can do while watching TV on the couch. And of course, it also follows the same general theme of the old Lyman hand tool that would fit in a saddle bag and let you re-load pretty much anywhere. |
i worry that someone someday is going to think those blue rounds are snap caps
and i always reload in front of the tv on the couch. i roll my bench with my progressive out of a closet and im ready to go. it's and old DJ cabinet on wheels and i just bolted the press to the top. the top comes off and i store everything inside it. |

You bring up a valid point and I saw something similar mentioned in a cast bullet powder coating thread. Aren't simunition rounds blue? Quoted:

<snip> You bring up a valid point and I saw something similar mentioned in a cast bullet powder coating thread. Aren't simunition rounds blue? Blue is one color of sim rounds. There are others, red/orange, green, etc. Sim rounds look very different from a regular bullet. Blue is a color sometimes associated with training; i.e., the frame of a Glock simunition gun is blue. CS tear gas is also marked with blue and as mentioned, some snap caps are blue. I see the point that if someone came across these and didn't know what these rounds were they might think there is something different because of the color. |

The way i have it setup, i dont have room on top of the cabinet to have different things around. Everything is packed away (except the press) in the big rolling box and i have to get it all out and get set up. The only things on top of the box are bullets, cases and primers (and a couple hand tools in case i need to make adj). shoot i barely have room for a beer on the box let alone diff powders and what not |
| I bought one of the Lee Hand Presses a few weeks ago. It made sizing about 1k of 223 and 1k of 9mm a little easier since I could sit and watch TV while doing it. Still have to get around to trimming the 223 and a handful of wonky 9mm that is not square. I have a filing cabinet that we no longer use, I am re-purposing it for a mobile base to use the Small Lee turret and my RCBS trimmer etc. I like having a large bench to use but when I get home late its nice to sit on a comfy couch instead of my shitty chair. |
