I already run a Pro1000. The Lee priming system SUCKS, so I removed the system altogether from the P1000, and it works fine now. I de-prime and size in one stage, then I prime by hand.
Well, I have a LM now and will not even attempt the priming system. For one, I stated above. Two, I will not have room on the turret for this operation as I am going to run a bullet feeder die and powder cop. With the LM, do you just not use this function or can you remove the entire priming system from the ram and press body altogether? |

Funny, I have never had any problems with priming on the Loadmaster once it was set up properly.
Keep the priming system clean and don't cycle the press with too much force. You can easily take the whole priming system off if you want to prime off press. Make sure you take out the primer pusher and spring and this will free up an extra hole. I prime on the press but only run decapped, resized and cleaned brass through it. This helps to keep the priming system clean and running properly. |

Well, maybe I assume too much that the LM sucks at priming. In any case, I will be de-capping, sizing, and priming off the press and I don't want any of the priming system in the way.
Maybe I will consider it at a later date, but I certainly had no luck with the Pro1000 priming system. |

I have an old LM with the newest updated small priming system. I just used it for the first time last week. In 600 rounds of 223 loaded in about 2 hours, I had 6 crushed primers and about 6 cases that didnt prime on the first try. I feel thats acceptable performance for my needs.
some tips if you try it -get the new primer assembly -coat the trough with graphite -keep the trough full of primers -keep the shell plate clean, and if you spill any power stop and clean it up -use a smooth and gentle rhythm when stroking the press -lubricate the press properly and set the indexing correctly I plan on sending a primer system to magic mike to have him mod it with his improved slider and auto reteact. the only trouble I had was the primer pin spring seemed a little long and worked better after I trimmed it a little. magic mike has a magnet modification that replaces the spring. The newer prime system on the loadmaster works very well. I had an original that ran for a long time and then all of sudden stopped working . got the first updated system and it failed, Lee sent me the newest system and has been great.
Although to be honest I wish it would prime on the downstroke. but that is just s personal prefrence |
