Is the optional "aluminum roller handle" longer than the basic handle?

Not really

It's one of the few accessories that I have for my 550. You will love the roller handle. Hope the pic helps show the length.

I'm still trying to figure out what is wrong with the stock handle even loading 500 rounds a day in a few hours?

Nothing wrong with the stock ball handle.

The roller handle is just an improvement.

You will have to try one to understand.

I opted for the black plastic handle, works the same as the alum and slightly cheaper.  The blues anodize on the alum roller does not match Dillon blue exactly which bugs me.  Yeah, I'm anal/OCD.

Me too. I've never seen the need to buy one, the stock handle works fine for me. I have, in a moment of weakness, bought things I did not need simply out of boredom. I have also bought duplicates of things I already had but forgot I had them. Such is life.

With the roller handle, you can use 2 hands to size your .308 brass with a small base die.  PS: you have to use 2 hands.
