First of all I want to apologize. I am sure this has been covered before. I am guilty of not paying attention to what does not concern me.
Well. Now that a good friend gave me 1000 Federal #205s it concerns me. 
I want to know how you guys rate these specifically for AR-15 use, hand priming tool use, and how they perform with various powders especially ball type like H-335 and WC-844. Thanks in advance, Motor1 |

Use 'em, shoot 'em ! Seriously, we have loaded a boxcar load of 205's for our AR's without issue. The slam fire guys will be along, but I , in 40+ years of reloading have never encountered this. Still, all safety precautions should be adhered to. The mentioned powders will get along fine with the primers. In very cold weather, such as coyote calling this winter, I would use magnum primers to keep things similar to warmer temps. Both powders show some loss of punch with standard primers in cold weather, in particular sub zero. I just load up 50-100 rounds for this purpose with mag primer and use them for chasing song dogs. Get to a safe zone to fire. Load one into the chamber and drop the bolt to make sure your rig doesn't have any issues with the cup.
If the dent is severe, be sure to keep track of how many times you chamber that round and consider that too many load-unload cycles may have a negative effect on the primer if the pin slams too large of a dent into it. |
