I just switched over to 223 and got everything readjusted and the powder drop spills powder on every drop.  I know my depth it correct and I'm just about frustrated.

Any ideas on what's going on?

How much powder are we talking?

Did you did change the powder measure sleeve to the smaller diameter?

Yep, it's got the smallest sleeve in it.

What powder?

Is it possible the powder is sticking in the drop and then on the downstroke it gets knocked loose? Static or some kind of stickiness? Are you checking the weights of what you are getting in the case and is it consistent?

You might have to spray some silicone based dry lube inside the powder measure.

I had issues with my LnL powder measure sticking with H110 a while back and spilling powder everywhere.

Take it apart and give everything a coat of dry lube (silicone based) and I bet your problem goes away.

I just re read my post and realized it might be confusing what I meant.

Use dry lube on the metal parts where they meet other metal parts.    Don't spray lube inside the powder hopper.

I'm using Varget and powder sticking might be it.  I'll pull it apart and reclean it and see.

Remember you have to give the powder time to enter the case before you cycle the press.

Especially a long extruded powder like Varget.

I was giving it more than enough time.  I tore it apart and cleaned it, but my frustration led me to Maker's 46.  I'll restart tomorrow.  I think I might not have dried the inside after I cleaned it.

I wouldn't even dream about trying to use a long stick powder like Varget in my Hornady progressive.

I think you're wasting your time.

Congrats if you figure it out.

I have tried IMR4064. Those presses do not like stick powders.

Sometimes it's best to start over in the morning. That's been successful for me in the past. Good luck.

I use it with 0.2 grains of accuracy.  Not the best, but useable.

Try giving your measure a tap with your hand when it is the process of dropping the powder into the case... knock loose the stuff it's spilling before you remove the case from the powder die.

have you tried using an old dryer sheet to remove static which can cause bridging?

edit to add: Folks laugh about it here... but a small 'personal pleasure device' i.e. vibrator can be strapped to your powder hopper and left running as you load... completely eliminated any powder bridging I've seen with stick / extruded powders on my Dillon measure.
