| Having Dillons RL550's and 650's I a Dillon fan. I have used a single stage press for years liek teh Rock Chucker and Lymans Orange Crusher. They are great for doing riflle cases liek 308 or 30.06. I wanter to replace my aging Orange Crusher and I ordered a Dillon BL 550 Basic Loader. It is of course every bit as stroung as the Orange crusher and I can use my many Dillon caliber conversions that I have for my 550. The big advantage I have found is in loading is that you can do multiple operations at one time vs a single operation. Example: Liek all of us that load 357 Sig we siz eit the first time with a 40 S&W die and then run it through a second time using the 357 SIg die for the neck and shoulder. I can run a 40 S&W die in hole 1 and the 357 SIg die in hole 2 and this is where it gets even better, in hole 3 you place the powder funer and your case funnel to bell the case mouth. So now I size in 1 and 2 and bell in 3 and drop powder and seat and crimp in hole 4. So unlike a 550 I can do everything in one pass. This would normall take 3 or 4 separate operations in a single stage press. There are many other advantages over a single stage press and teh BL 550 only cost $259. I ordered mine two weeks ago on a Friday and it shipped on Monday. I can size 308 or 223 in hole 1 and drop powder in hole 2 and seat in hole 3 and taper crimp in hole 4 all in one operation. |
