I purchased a Dillon 1050 and am interested in seeing how others have it set up for 223.  My previous experience has all been on a single stage.  I purchased two toolheads....one for brass prep and another for loading. Here's the plan:

Tumble military surplus brass and lube.

Brass Prep Toolhead
Universal Decapper
Dillon Trimmer with sizing die

Dry Tumble to remove lube....then

Loading toolhead(Already set up by Dillon)
Station #2 Sizer and decapper - (I want to remove this as to not have to lube again since its already sized)
Station #3 Swage
Station #4 Primer
Station #5 Powder
Station #6 Open
Station #7 Seating Die
Station #8 Crimp Die

Questions...
Any need for the sizer and decapper in the loading toolhead?  The Dillon trimmer with sizing die already FL sizes, correct?
My research has found where others add a neck sizing die and some don't.  What's your opinion?  I just want to make sure the bullets goes in without interference. Some say use a neck sizing die especially when using surplus brass to take out any dented case necks.

Thanks for the help.  This forum has been invaluable to me over the years!

Do not use the universal decapper use your dillon sizing die for that... There's no need to use the trim die as a sizer.... Too much going on there!

Few reasons:
1 it will keep your trim die cleaner
2 the brass will go into the trim die completely resized that way trimming is more uniform.
3 easier to adjust and clean full length sizer

Also your questions
No need for a sizer in the loading tool head... Also not really understanding what you would need a neck sizer  after full length sizing? But your trim die will act as a neck sizer... Again there's no need for it

I use a Universal Decapper in all 3 of my trimming (300 Whisper, 223, 308) toolheads.

And I also use a FL resize die on the normal reloading toolhead.

I got my 1050 last December with the same setup as you.

I know other people have been successful but I was not able to get my Dillon trimmer to work very consistently. Without milling the tool head there is not enough room to provide the adjustment needed to set up the trimmer properly.  Also, if you do anything else on the tool head when you trim then you introduce another variable to the trimming travel.

I spent about a week trying to work out the bugs and I finally gave up to use my Garaud.

I hope you can make it work.  I couldn't.  I'll give it another try another time.
