I'm looking for a min load for the 60g Berger Varmint and the 53g Vmax with H335. My lyman has loads for 60g Jacked V-max, can I use this data for the berger? It also has data for 52g Jacketed HPBT, can I use this for the Vmax? If you have specific load data on these in your manuals I would appreciate a photo upload and tell me what manual you used so I can buy it.

If you can't find anything, those would be good places to start. Somebody with a hornady manual can probably help you out with the VMax though.

Which Lyman? The latest #49? Also no mention of firearm your loads will be fired in. Lots of info helps with better answers.

Here is the secret to using load data, as you very seldom find data the matches your components.

Secret;

Use same bullet (or next heaver bullet) weight data for the powder you have and begin loading at the start load and work up watching for pressure signs.

This is why "start" loads are given. These are mild loads that should work the action of your gun.

Don't load below start loads, some combinations of below start loads are dangerous.

The exception to the above is when loading solid copper bullets, you have to use the makers data as these bullets are harder than copper jacket/lead bullets.

Hornady 9, page 151, 53 gr Vmax, H-335, OAL 2.240.

Start, 22.3 grs for 2900 fps, Max 25.4 grs for 3200 fps.

Good luck

Thank you. I want to see how the 60g act in the AR before I invest in the manual. Although if I get another good deal on some Berger I'll probably go ahead and get the manual.

One other thing, if you email Berger, they will send you load data.  They've done it for me more than a couple of times.

Just tell them which bullet you're loading, and in what cartridge.  Also if loading for an AR, I'd tell them that also.

ETA:  Now that I'm thinking about it, the times I emailed them was before the book was out.

I guess I should buy it myself.
