I just ran up on about 150 rounds of linked 7.62x51 NATO LC 86 and every 5th one is a tracer. Is there any danger of pulling these bullets (the tracers) and cleaning and polishing in a turbo tumbler, before or after pulling? Thanks in advance!

The tracers just have a compound in the bottom thats like a packed fuel (think of the estee's rocket engines..sorta the same) so as long as you keep it from anything that could ignite it, then its no different than any other round. Personally...i would not tumble them though as i have no idea if media might damage the ignition material or not.
Just curious....why pull them? would be fun shooting!

Nope.  None at all.  Good luck

be sure to remark them in some way after you clean them up. lots of places ban tracers, for good reason. I've had them start fires in conditions I swore it would be impossible to do so.

buy some model paint, those small little jars and just dip the points in the enamel paint. won't hurt anything and actually marks them very well :-)

black for AP
red maroon/orange for tracers

Totally safe to pull and tumble.

The cases or very corroded, but they may clean up enough to shoot. I did pull two and it has exactly 40 grs of a ball powder, I have heard that sometime a machine gun round is loaded to heavy sometimes, I do not know if that is true. Would you know what the ball powder is by back experience?
