had a stuck case in my 223 die and ended up breaking the decapping rod ( dont ask.) i bought a new rod but it appears it must have been a different style then the old one. now the guide bushing wont screw very far on the decapping rod

this is far as it will screw on. im new to reloading so be gentle

Did you buy a decapping rod from the same manufacturer?  You said you're new, so I'm starting at the beginning..  You didn't buy an RCBS rod for a Hornady die, or something like that, did you?

Look at the threads inside the nut that the decapping stem threads into.

Are they buggered up?

Can you thread another/same thread bolt in there?

Don't force anything.

Good deal.

In reloading especially when using a press, if suddenly something doesn't feel right stop.

If you force it something will break. Getting it fixed takes time from reloading.

For future reference, RCBS will replace the decapping rod at no charge if you call customer service. Even if it was your fault. Can take a little time to get parts in but when they ship you replacement parts for free, I just prep a different caliber until it arrives

this right here. Their CS is top notch. Hell you can even email them. I ruined the expander ball and decapping pin on my .223 X-die and they sent me a whole new mandrel assembly and a baggie of 5 extra decapping pins. And it was my fault(stuck case)
