I am new to reloading, and I love it! I have an RCBS trim mate center as well as the RCBS care trimmer. All have gone dull after only about 100 pieces of brass. I have made sure to keep them clean, yet i am tired of the in consistency and the hassle of dulling blades. What would be some really good replacement pieces? Thank you Very much

RCBS Prep Center ? Assuming that's what you meant. I don't have the trim mate, but do have prep center with original chamfure tools and small primer pocket uniformer bought new with prep center. I'm into five digits and everythings original. I used uniformer last week to cut crimp from LC, 5.56 brass just playing around. I have Dillon swager.

Finesse is my word for RCBS Prep Center.

Regards,

dc.

I hate to say it, but you are doing something wrong.  For the past two years I've used the RCBS Trim Mate Case Prep Center and RCBS Tim Pro Case Trimmer for thousands of rounds of brass.  None of the equipment to date has worn out or been inconsistent.  I've found the case trimmer to be extremely consistent, with only a 1/1000 variation if anything.

In fact tonight I used both pieces of equipment to convert 250 rounds of .223 brass into .300 Blackout.  Each piece of brass went through the Case Prep Center twice and the case trimmer once.  Below are some pictures of the amount of shavings so you can see the use both of mine gets.  This was one night, in the past 2 years of use...

I even use a Dewalt XRP 14.4v cordless drill chucked up to the case trimmer to speed up the process and still haven't dulled the cutting head!

Carbide Replacement Tools are available if you need them.  They're not cheap, but they handle abuse better.  Lighten up on the tools and they do better and last longer  I know!  You don't need this abuse!  I will say that I got two dull tools with my Trim Mate....dull right out of the box.  An email to RCBS fixed that in about 4 days.

Checking Midway USA..........Ahhh!  Midway finally has them listed! Cheaper a bit!

Sorry to have to tell you this, (since you just bought the older tools, probably) but RCBS now has their trimmer and case prep center combined...Announced at the Shot Show.  Yes, it can use the 3-way attachment, and the motor is stronger and speed adjustable!  Don't know whether they're supplying the carbide, or steel tools in the box.  At that price....maybe.  No, hardened steel.....darn.

I also have an RCBS trimmer from several years back, actually liked it for the most part......  Now that I will begin reloading again (like everybody and his brother!),
I saw people talking about the Little Crow Gunworks WFT.  Actually have one, but didn't use it yet on the mountain of .223 brass I have!  But I am hoping it is quicker and easier to use, attached to a small power drill.......
