thinking about adding a 1050 primaraly because of the swaging station,i hate swaging on my 600

Have a 650 and load on a friend's 1050. I wish I'd listened and bought 1050 instead.

I have all three - 550, 650, 1050.

550 is relegated to loading 9mm for my wife.
650 is set to load 223. I processed and reloaded on it until I got the 1050. I have a super swager as well. 650 is faster to change heads out on as well.
1050 is set to process 223. Once I get it all processed and ready to load, I will get a second tool head for it to load the 223. I have several friends who "borrow" it to load their own components. One day, I might even get bullet feeders for both the 650 and 1050.

There isn't much of a difference between the 650 and 1050 as far as loading goes. The 1050 shines because of it's swaging station. A lot of people dont know, but Dillon offers 0% (That is right - zero percent) financing on 1050s. You call them and tell them you want to finance one. They take your credit card number and charge you 1/3 plus shipping when it ships (usually that day or the next). They charge the next payment 30 days after the first, and the last comes 30 days after the second. So, after 3 months, you own a 1050. You have to call and ask for it. There was no credit check or anything as they only asked for credit card number and my customer number. I asked what happens if someone just doesn't make the rest of the payments as it seemed awfully easy. The guy said their cadre of lawyers handled that. Oh, I placed my order on/around Oct 1, 2012, had the machine in about a week. The second and third payments were made on/around Nov 1 and Dec 1 respectively. I assume they are still offering the deal.

Have had the SDB, 450jr, Rl 450, RL550, XL650 and Super 1050. Still have 2 SDB's under my bench and the S1050 on top. One day will have a RL1000 next to the 1050.

Get the 1050 have yet to hear anyone say they wished they hadn't bought one, if not in a hurry watch CL theres been some smoking deals at times

Had a 650 and sold it to get a 1050.  I do love my 1050 but part of me misses the easy of caliber changes and low cost tool heads of the 650.  If I had the money I'd have all 3, as it is I'll be saving money for a 550 so I can do my lower volume stuff on something a easier and cheaper to change calibers.

If you use a lot of mixed brass the swager does not work as nice as with a single brand due to the huge variations in case dimensions between manufacturers.  For me the biggest advantage in the 1050 press is that it primes at the same time it does everything else without the need to push on the press handle as you need to do on all the other Dillon presses.  That little bit of econemy of motion really adds to the speed with a little less fatigue on the operator too.  I'de prefer to run non crimped cases on the press without the swage attachment on the press, but certain calibers like 9mm and 45 acp will pretty much guarantee you will get some military crimped brass in the mixed brass I scrounge.
