I am pretty new to the reloading forum. I was wondering what powder is best for loading 9mm 147g xtreme plated bullets.
I am leaning towards tite group. Please advise! Thanks in advance! -SS |

I started with Titegroup when I began loading 9mm. The main problem with titegroup is that it has a fairly small range of powder charges for a given load. It will be less forgiving of measurement inaccuracies, and htis can be a problem when working with hotter loads. I also found that I was having trouble getting my velocities up where I wanted them with titegroup without going to the Max end of the range. Titegroup also doesn't fill the case very much making the possibility of double charges more likely to go un-noticed. I was later advised to try Winchester WSF. I am glad I took that advice. I recently loaded some 147gr FMJ Montana Gold bullets and they are stupid accurate. It gets my velocities up where I want them, burns clean and is fairly mild on the recoil. What's not to love? Using WSF powder for my 9mm loads was some of hte best advice I have gotten for reloading. |

That said, it is very popular and very economical with its low charge weight. I generally use W231, but I have a pound of Titegroup I bought when W231 was unavailable. I haven't actually tried it yet because I came across another pound of 231 before I loaded my next batch. |
