Is 231 still in production? My local reloading shop said it wasn't being made. Thanks

The demise of W-231 was greatly exaggerated. To paraphrase Mark Twain.

Hodgdon HP-38 is the same thing, but different label and is usually cheaper. PV does have the 1# and 8# canisters in stock. I went from W-231 to HP-38 and no difference.

I haven't heard anything about stopping production of W231. I don't see why they would, it's a very popular powder.

My ex uses it and I use HP-38. I shoot her 38's in my guns and they shoot to the same POA as mine do, same with mine in her guns.

With the panic buying going on now W231 just may be all sold out for now. If you need powder now try some HP-38, same stuff.
