I have been looking at loading presses, and have decided on the Lee loadmaster setup.

The main calibers I will be loading is going to be 9mm, 223 and 308.

Can any of you guys that have this press please give me some insight on whats needed to change calibers (except for the dies that is)

Thanks

You can buy the kit for one of those caliber's then get the conversion parts for the other two.....Lee

but otherwise, to get you going I'll say you need

the loadmaster progressive press 5 hole turrets Lee
           #:
               90079

small case feeder for 9mm Lee
           #:
               90659)

rifle case feeder Lee
           #:
               90663

shell plates

lg & small priming (I hand prime)

pro auto disk for each conversion(?)Lee

I absolutely love that thing, and I think I have 9+ conversions set up......but be forewarned that a bit of mechanical ability and a whole lot of patience is an absolute must for it.......analyze your budget, patience and level of mechanical ability very thoroughly before you go this route.
ETA pic.....cuz we love pics here!

Thanks for the awesome writeup, that helps out a lot...

Now I have to decide if I am going to pick up the 9mm or 308 setup first..

I would say 9mm.  I had too many issues with rifle on the LM - well I had too many issues with the press in general.

I had one for a while. Spend a little more for a better press now and you will not regret it later.

I mentioned this in another loadmaster thread today and thought maybe it would help you also......loadmastervideos.com .....I think they had a full caliber conversion change video......

I looked at others, LM seemed to be a pretty good press for what you pay..
Which one would be the best bang for your buck..??

ETA: I know its not going to be a "black and white" answer to that question, but what are some of the things that you guys didnt like about the LM..??

loadmastervideos.com also has a good forum, don't forget.

My best advice is to remember that Lee does not setup each press and test them.
So first disassemble everything, clean metal parts with alcohol to remove shipping grease.
Reassemble per the instructions.   Lube the cylinder with grease - huge difference.

Best bang for your buck would be the Lee classic cast turret.  Nice little press.  But if you want a progressive press then I would day Dillon 550B - no fuss, no mess it will just flat out work.
