Ran out of my Remington 7 1/2 SR primers tonight while loading up a bunch of 75gr 223 rounds for high power this weekend- had to use primers from my plinking stash: Wolf REM 223 SR primers. Any idea how much of a shift in POI there will be at 200/300 Y assuming everything else is constant? (LC Nato Brass, 20.9gr 8208XBR, 75gr HPBT Hornady Match)

np, without knowing exactly how much a shift there will be- is it likely that I would see at least some vertical shift? different primers such as the wolf vs remington, roughly equal to half a grain powder difference or a grain? ETA": Or... I could just be smart about this and use only wolf primered rounds so I don't have to worry about a random shift in the middle of a course of fire ![]() |

If you would like a guess based on my own experience with exactly the same changes, while using a WOA service rifle.....
Not much difference in POI and not much difference in dispersion either. About two clicks was all I needed between those two primers. Be interested in hearing how yours turn out. |

Ended up being able to shoot the 200 slow & rapid, and 300 rapid using just my Rem primered rounds. Got to the 600 Slow (simulated @ 300 w/ reduced target) and after the 2 sighters and 4 rounds, had to switch over to the wolf primer rounds. Interestingly enoughly, no noticeable change in POI. At 300Y, I would consider myself having a good day if I can hold the 9 ring consistently, so it seems that any change in POI between the REM and WOLF primers is less than my shooting ability.
