Out of my first couple hundred reloads I had 5 rounds that would feed but the slide would be 1/4" from closing, if I tapped the back of the slide it would close and fire. Couple rounds wouldn't budge either way and took alot of force to rack the slide and eject the round and the lead bullet would sheer like the pic below.

The other rounds ran perfect. The rounds all fit the chamber gauge as well as the barrel. I'm also using Lee FCD with just enough to remove the bell.

The brass is once fired from the same gun either Federal or WWB. The OAL is 1.14 with 4.3 grains HP38.

The gun is an M&P Pro 40, I shot 1000 rounds of factory ammo before using reloads and had no problems.

I'm going to guess you are talking 9mm? or 40? Hard to give advice without knowing.

Think you might need a shorter OAL.

Where did you get your data?

Its a 40. I got the data from the Lyman cast book and from online recommendations. The lowest oal I can go is 1.13 per the book so I figured 1.14 should be ok but maybe not. I was trying not to go the lowest oal but may have too.

Just looks to me that you have too much bullet sticking out of case.

Try a dummy round seated to a shorter OAL.

Then if you decide to load to a shorter length, re-work up your load.

Some guys were going up to 1.18 in the M&P Pros. It seems like that would be the problem but I wonder why the other couple hundred rounds ran fine?

If you are sure it's not an ammo issue, then that leaves the pistol.

Suggests its an ammo problem, not a gun problem.  The bullets look like they are seated long, it may be the design of that bullet that's causing the problem.  I shoot reloads in my M&P 40, but they are plated bullets, I've shot several thousand thru my M&P and have never had a single jam or problem in feeding.
