Just got in a couple jugs of WC846.  I ordered a load manual too, but it only list 844 in 5.56, so I'm looking for a little help.  I'll be loading 55gr. FMJ's, and I'm needing enough pressure to not short stroke some of the "tighter ported" AR's like Daniel Defense.  I don't need full on M193 ballistics, just a practice round.  Also, I saw that WC846 is similar to BL-C(2),  but how similar?  Thanks for any help.

Well they're going to be sim to BLC2 but those big army lots or even big ammo company lots don't hold the same near perfect consistency that they obviously must have for us out of the book reloaders.

They're close but vary off spec more as their ammo is made with a specific lot and made to shoot at a certain velocity and pressure.  They care less about hitting 27 grains and care more about 3400 fps at 52,000psi.   Remember they have a big lab and testing equipment that we couldn't possibly match.

With the notion that the powder could be vary from lot to lot work up carefully watching for pressure with your BLC2 data.  If you buy more WC846 it's likely not going to be the same lot so reduce your charge and work back up again.  The eye you save may be your own.
