For onsies and twosies, any quality kinetic type bullet puller will do. http://www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=431

For massive quantities I would get the Hornady one.  Full disclosure, I don't own the Hornady collette type puller.  Good reloading practice should prevent the need to pull a lot of rounds

I've used the Berry's Bullet Puller on many different calibers, never had any issues with it.

the rcbs plastic one i have tends to crack the cap often. no big deal as 1call to them get me a new one. If it completely breaks, i am going to buy something else.

I have a RCBS Collet Bullet Puller.  It can get a little expensive buying collets for every caliber you reload, however the puller works extremely well.  I would agree the Hornady collet puller is probably a little faster.

This is what I use as well.  IT is FANTASTIC!  I have 4 of the collets for it, so yes it can get pricey but for how easily it works and no marks on the bullets I think it is worth it.

I had the Rcbs hammer type for years and it finnaly broke. I mailed it back and they sent me a new one, which broke, I mailed it back and they sent me another new one, which broke on the first hit. I only use my collet RCBS now as I am tired of shipping busted plastic through the mail.

Another +1 for the RCBS collet puller.

I only load .22 and .30 so it's easy for me to get by with just two collets.

Collet pullers are faster than kinetic pullers, they require a collet for each caliber.

The Hornady is easier to use than the RCBS.

I have the Hornady Puller and it is awesome. Rarely have to use it, but when I do it is cleaner and faster than kinetic. Hope this helps

When my 30 year old RCBS kinetic puller finally broke, I ordered the Hornady collet puller with .223 collet. A big advantage is that your not separating bullets and powder, much more controlled, not to mention...a LITTLE quieter also I ordered another kinetic puller from Grafs, but never use it for 223.

RCBS should replace it for free

Had the same issue, except the handle busted.  They made me ship it back to get a new one.  I bought a Frankford Arsenal.  Metal handle.

Have broken every kinetic bullet puller made.

Need a product trouble shooter ? Send to me. I can induce malfunctions in stuff others claim trouble free.

That said, my RCBS collet puller seems to have survived me so far.

I stopped at Brownell's to buy the Hornady puller but they were sold out.  I bought the Forster collet puller instead and bought collets for .223 and .277. I works great and I will never use the hammer again.

Within the last two years I've used the collet pullers by Forster, Hornady, and RCBS to pull .30 and .45 caliber bullets.  I had to use the 30-cal pullers as I experimented with 300 BLK and 7.62x39 loads.  I used the 45-cal pullers because I sold a 458 SOCOM upper and I broke down all of my loaded ammo to sell the components.  Here are my personal experiences:

Forster:  I didn't care for it at all.  The collets break very easily.  There isn't much material right on the lip that bites into the bullet and if you tighten it too much it chips.  Also, before I broke the collects, I found that the bullets stick in the die and that I would have to practically beat it to get it to fall out.

Hornady:  I had the same problem in that the 30-cal collect chipped very early on during my use.  To their credit, Hornady did send me a replacement collet but it took weeks to arrive!  The 45 collet was better but still not as good as the RCBS.

RCBS:  The collets I used, 30- and 45-cal, have a much better design.  The lips that bite into the bullet are thicker and thus there is less likelihood that it will chip during use.  Also, I didn't have much trouble getting the bullet to fall from the dies after it was pulled.  I recently pulled a fairly large batch of 7.62x39 bullets (about 40) and the RCBS collet puller was extremely easy to use and I didn't have any difficulty.

Based on my experiences, the RCBS is the only decent option for a collet bullet puller.  The others are not very good, IMHO.  YMMV.

Thanks for asking this question.  I've been wanting to get that off of my chest for some time.

Kind regards, J
