| Hey guys, new here, but not to the platform. Can the 80 gr. SMK's be loaded to magazine length? How much longer can they possibly be than the 77's? Thanks for the input guys. L2B |

Some shooters use modified magazines with the front web cut out to clear the bullet, with mixed results. There is a commercial magazine currently on the market for this purpose, and the company's name escapes me right now.
You get to decide for yourself if you want to fool with that option. Ask a highpower shooter whether loading single shot is worthwhile, too! |

Will [some | any] 1:8 twist barrels stabilize the 80SMK? Do you know how long it is? All 1/8 twist barrels will stabilize 80 grain bullets. Unless you have a carbine length barrel which dramatically lowers velocity. 1/8 twist 20" barrels perform very well using 80 grain bullets and minimal jump to the rifling. .010" jump is recommended. 22.0 to 23.0 grains of H4895 or 23.0 to 24.0 grains of RE-15, VihtaVuori N140 or Varget will work best. DO NOT JAM THE BULLET INTO THE RIFLING w/o lower these charge weights. Look for the most accurate load using these powders and 20" velocities between 2550fps and 2650 fps. |
