| I need one that can hold ammo, a chronograph and a tripod. Anyone have any recommendations? |

I use a Maxpedition XXL MPB. http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/MPB-XXL-13p1389.htm Youtube review. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJWZyVXAhoo |

They are a bit pricey, but I really like the Competitive Edge Dynamics bags. I've been using one for several years now. The bottom is very rigid so it won't sag even with a LOT of ammo in it. I've carried two 5.56 ammo cans about half full of 9mm/.40 each in mine with pistols and mags on the outside pockets and it doesn't sag in the middle. Stitching and shoulder strap are very high quality and the zippers run easy without binding or splitting and I'm pretty hard on mine.

you people are crazy spending that amount on range bags....look no further...
best range bag for the money.. |

Or even cheaper. Go to the hardware store and buy a BigMouth Gate Opening type tool bag. I've been using one as my range bag for years. With the nylon zippers it's even safe to set a rifle in the maw of the opening to safely hold my service rifle on the line while I do something else.
I have that CED bag as well for my pistol bag as my other bag just got too full half the time. It's ok. I generally take it when I teach courses as I can hold all the pistol cases I need to show the class the many types. |

Another vote for the Midway bag. Yep crazy to spend more I bought one in the recent sale, I hope it is good. My old one from a local maker has been going to matches for 10 years and is falling apart finally. I think the Midway is a tad bit smaller, which is fine since I have a tendency to overpack. |

All zippers are still intact, and I'm not real gentle with it, but I don't beat on it either though. It's holds allot of shit!! |

+1 this is a nice bag for the money

I have the midway bag. Have a couple Bagmaster bags from 'back in the day'.
Only problem with it is EVERYONE has it! I have caught myself getting into others bags a few times: "Hey, I don't own an STI....oh...." I have mine covered in various gun-related patches to tell it apart from the crowd at matches.
That said, I am a Maxpedition fanboi, and I really really want one of their range bags. I've had my Midway for 3 or 4 years now at least, and it is starting to show some wear. Zippers are all intact, but it's getting some rips here and there. Just looking forward to the day I can replace it with a Max! |
