I've never loaded with small base dies before.  I am getting set up to run some 30-06 for a friend with a Remmy 742 which has extraction problems.  Do charges have to be scaled back for small base resizing?  I have not found any info in load data books.  Thanks.

No difference in loading levels.
What I have found in my experience using RCBS dies is that I only gain .001 less base diameter when using SB Dies for 30-06  in my M1 Garand. Hardly worth the effort IMO.
I'd be interested in what results you get!

If loading near maximum , extraction problems can be a result of high pressure. The brass sticks to the chamber wall because there is not spring back. Standard & small base are loaded the same. Lee does not make small base dies.    My Photo Albums

I had problems with feeding and extraction in an LR308, small base dies took care of it. I upgraded to an OBR and have never had an issue.

30-06 Remmy 742 which has extraction problems.

try loading with loads/powders used for the Garand first, Semi-Auto Remingtons are know to have extraction issues, that might help.

No bullet heavier then 170gr or so.

Have a Rem 740 and 742
