| I want to reload for a M1A and a Remington 700; both 308 caliber. Do I need small base dies for the M1A, which I know aren't optimum for the 700, or can I just use standard full length dies. Also, are the RCBS X-dies advantageous? It sounds like they reduce trimming, but may bulge cases; true? Thanks. |
| I have used nothing but Dillon dies and have no issues, it was suggested to me by someone with a good deal of insight if your gonna have Dillon use Dillon and if your gonna have RCBS use there stuff as it's designed to run on there press, not to say that things cannot be mixed up but it was easy for me as Dillon makes GREAT Stuff !! |

I just used my Hornady 308 FL dies for the first time today All my rifle dies are Hornady dies. Just an observation, even with adequate lube, some of those cases were tough to size vs 762x39 or example I had to cam over just a bit to get the cases fit in the case gage, press used was old style Rock Chucker. After sizing about 40 cases, I found 5 cases that were sized but didn't need to be trimmed and made 5 dummy rounds and cycled them thru my STG-58, all worked like a charm. So then I continued sizing the rest of the brass |
