All of my reloading equipment is located in my garage. It is insulated, but still gets cool in the winter and warm in the summer (we have all 4 seasons here). I currently store my powder and primers inside and was considering moving it out to the garage with my equipment. Any down-sde to doing that?
Thanks. |

hello;
suggest a wooden toy chest, placed inside a closet in you home. used a wooden toy chest to store my powder and primers for years. never had a problem. size is 18"x18"x36". wood is @3/4" thick. found an unfinished toy chest on sale cheap or you can make one. just a suggestion rp |
| Here is my little experience. I had some duplicate cans of powder that I didn't have room for in my cabinet. I boxed them up in a cardboard box and took them to the garage. It was winter. Garage is attached, but insulated and unheated, cold in winter, quite hot on occasion in summer. I forgot about them out there. Three years later, I discover the box. In the meantime, it was... "Geeze.. I was sure I had a couple more cans of Bullseye." Well I did. Upon examination, several of the cans were "bad." Powder has a rusty brownish color. Interestingly, most of the bad cans were Hodgdon powders. So I lost about $150 of powder with that little brain fade. I am pretty sure the heat in the summer, over a couple of years, caused the powder to go bad. I have powder in my cabinet in the basement of the house that I have had for 30+ years that is fine. Always nice and cool down there. |
