does anyone have any links (tried googling) to some charts? i shoot mostly m855 (cuz i get it cheap in bulk, but where i have been shooting matches they dont allow steel core on steel plates. so i need to use my reloads for the steel plate portion and my acog is dialed in for 62gr m855 (plus it has the BDC for that round) so what im trying to figure out is the diff betwen the two for POI so i can still hit the targets w/ out breaking the rules.
also 69gr SMK too because i reloaded a bunch of 55gr sp because i got the bullets for free and now when i buy more im planning on buying the 69gr smk's thanks leon |

what distances will you be shooting? what size targets will you be shooting at? what is your barrel length?
No matter what, you'll need to re-zero your ACOG for the 55gr load. The difference in POI between the m193 and m855 has much more to do with the barrel harmonics than it does with the ballistic trajectories of the cartridges, and that's going to be very specific to your rifle*. The ballistic trajectories only come into play when comparing rifles that have been zeroed for each type of round. * My HK MR556 prints the various bullet weights straight up the target, the 75gr about 3" higher than the 55gr. But the HK MR556 has a very heavy, stiff barrel. The heavier bullets have a slower velocity, which means they're in the barrel longer, so the rifle has recoiled back and up a bit more before they leave the barrel. My Colt SP1 is zeroed for the 55gr Malaysian M193, and Federal XM193 hits 5" to the left and about 8" high. But it has a very thin flexible barrel. |

thanks there's a lot of good reading in there. (its driving me nuts and cant remember your name right now, working at check point 9 has my brain fried cuz we're so short handed). and thanks red for the calculator link, im gonna have to play with that. at the matches i have been shooting we only go @25and on out to 200yds. plus a bunch in between. currently i either use my 16" or 14.5" rifle. 1:9 and 1:7 respectively. my 55gr handloads should have me in the neighborhood of about 3k fps. but i guess im just gonna have to zero w/ my handloads and and accept the little bit off it will be when i shoot m855, since i only use that at 100yrds and closer it should still be in the 5 ring. |

It's Tom, and glad we could help!
Assuming you use a TA31F, your handloads should be awefully close at the distances your shooting. My 55 grain loads track well out to about 450 meters, but M855 still does the best. This is all assuming you zero IAW the trijicon manual. |

Zero at 25M using the 300M aiming point, than confirm at 100M using the 100M aiming point. Adjust as necessary, and your all done. |
