Thinking of using Benchrest as my sole rifle powder, .223; .30-30, .308; .30-06?  Pro's, Con's?  Thanks in advance!

I'm going to guess you meant Benchmark from Hodgdon, right?

If so, I have some, but haven't gotten around to trying it out yet.  But I have heard good things about it.

Only calibers I own to use in are .223 and .30-06.

Ahhh.  New powder...  nevermind...

Excellent powder for .223 with bullets up to around 69gr and I've even seen some great loads using BM and the 75gr BTHP but I haven't tried it, my best loads with 52, 53, 55, & 60gr bullets are with BM powder but I think you might find it a little to fast for some of the other larger calibers.

IMO IMR8208 is just an improved BM with a slightly slower burn rate so it seems to work better with slightly heavier bullets and in larger calibers like .308 so if you haven't invested to much into BM yet you might try 8208 first since accuracy and velocity seems to be just as good as BM.

I'm getting excellent results with IMR 8208 XBR in .223, .270, and 30/30.

Haven't tried any, but Hodgdon's website has listed loads for 7 different bullet weights in .30-06.

Jack of all trades, master of none is my response.... It should work for all your calibers, but depending on what you want to do it may not be the best fit.

Regardless, if you only want one powder, its a good choice IMO.

223, 30-30, 308 I use the same powder for all three.

30-06 with more case capacity, will need a slower burning powder for best results.

If you want to make your 30-06 into a 308, then your plan will work.

I suspect the OP was asking about 8208. Several recent articles refer to it as "Benchrest" powder.
