Well I found out the importance of lubing your rifle cases. Which I happen to with this case but apparently not enough One Shot. I had to drill out the primer pocket and tap it for an impromptu brass puller. I added several spacer washers to a bolt to create a self pulley. As I tightened the bolt the pulled the shell out of the die.

I didn’t get completely lucky though. Ended up damaging my sizer die. I called Hornaday and they are sending me a replacement part no questions asked. Now that’s customer service.

If you're going to use One Shot, then read the directions and follow them to the letter.  Tossing it out is a better option.

Looks like you tried to yank it out with pliers before drilling and tapping.  I did that once.  Then I realized I was never going to get more leverage with a pair of handheld pliers than what a compound leverage press would give me.  It's a trap!

Hey, I use one-shot all the time - for pistol. You should try imperial sizing wax for rifle...nothin' I've found works better.

Ditto on the home made solution!  I started using it to size Lakecity machine gun .308 brass for my AR-10 and it works great!

I ruined my RCBS short base .223 sizing die last week due to one of two issues. 1) I somehow got a .222 case in my .223 pile or 2) not enough lube. I tried pliers and ate up the base of the case and had to hammer the case out using the decapper which got bent on the the initial screw up. That was a great $32 noob mistake.

After a few stuck cases and many wasted hours trying to find a differant way to remove stuck cases, I bought a stuck case remover and dumped a my roll pad. Stuck case remover(RCBS) is worth the money. I use one shot now and like its been stated a hundred times read the instructions. Let it sit a few minutes and your GTG

A .222 Rem case is shorter than .223 Rem, hence although it might stick, there's less surface in contact.  A .222 Rem case was not a factor, your lube practices are at fault.

A tap, drill, socket, washer, and bolt are all you need.

If you do not already have them the RCBS kit is good.

If you have a 1/4-20 tap and a socket set, all you need is a bolt (and you probably have that also).

Process explained here. Lee and Dillon dies have built in stuck case removers.  For all other dies read http://www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=463

As an asside, I found that during winter here (below freezing) I was experiencing stuck cases (both .223 and .308) regardless of the amount of lubercation.  Warm weather, no problem.

RCBS Case Lube Kit, problem solved.  I've never had a case even close to sticking.  I also use Hornady dies for the majority of calibers.

But, you can DIY.

One Shot - one shot to get it right, many to get it wrong.

As AeroE mentioned, your best bet is to throw away One Shot and get something that works.  I've had great luck with Dillon's spray lube.

I have use Lymans Quick Spray Case Lube for years.

Works, but I am concerned about the adverse effect it may have on powder.

Man ya'll have gotten me curious now!  I'm off to Walgreens for some alcohol and lanolin lol

ETA: How much are you guys paying for that liquid lanolin?  The only place I found it in town was 5.99 for that 4oz bottle.  I didn't think it'd be that expensive.

Since I size and decap in single stage mode for rifle brass, I use Hornady Unique. This stuff is inexpensive and I usually only apply lube to every 3rd or 4th case. After awhile, you develop a feel for when more lube is needed.

Application involves a simple swipe across the lube with 2 fingers of my left hand as I go to pick up the next piece of brass. Wipe some lube on the case neck as you go to place it in the shell holder. Drag a little off you finger accross the case mouth and resize. As mentioned earlier, I only have to do this for every 3rd or 4th case. I've done about 3000 cases so far using this method and have barely put a dent in the tub of lube.

This stuff is extremely effective.

I am still using a small bottle (2 oz.) of RCBS Case Lube 2 which was supplied with my Rockchucker IV kit.

A little goes a very, very long way.  I've loaded a few thousand rounds of rifle ammo, but there's still a ton of lube left in the bottle.  At the rate I'm using it, I'll die of old age before I empty the bottle.

I used 1 shot for about my first 50 rounds through my dillon 550 and the after about 3 stuck cases I went back to the gun shop. Told them my troubles and they said "yeah we have alot of people complain about that lube. You are the first one to buy any in about 6-7 months"

As you can imagine I was pretty hot because they didnt tell me this BEFORE I left the store with it the first time. Anyways went home and ordered 3 bottles of dillon lube. Works fantastic. Been meaning to try making my own.

Me neither but this is the gist of it.  Basically you're mixing 99% isopropyl alcohol with liquid lanolin.  The mixture is generally a 10% lanolin ratio but not set in stone.  If you can't find the 99% alcohol locally you can also use Heet brand gas dryer.  It comes in yellow and red bottles.  The one you want is the red bottle.  Now be sure to check because it's been awhile since I had to buy any but the msds had listed the red Heet as 99% isopropyl.  The 90% and less alcohol mixtures contain too much water and the lanolin will settle out of suspension.  Simple mixing together and shaking is all you have to do with the two items.

Anyway I agree with others.  The stuff is super  slick and I see no reason to even consider anything else as a case lube.  That's all I have................

I initially had a couple problems with it but haven't since I figured it out.....

I have had good luck with one shot aerosol spray.  Just let it dry before trying to size the cases.

I probably wont buy it again as aerosols are bad for the ozone layer and it might anger Al Gore.

Going to try that homemade recipee though.

Also don't confuse the one shot case lube with the one shot gun cleaner, which IMHO is a phenomenol product.
