Shooting my steel targets with them so have to stay away from the steel core. Do you mean SS109 bullets like M855 is loaded with? Those aren't any harder on rifle rated steel than anything else. The just spark a lot. Plus... I'm not sure about M196, but M856 tracers are steel jacketed anyway.

In fact, I fired for quals last night and M196 meets that milspec for sure. It wasn't just one box, either. 20 shooters, with 10 rounds spread throughout 2 magazines. M856 is supposed to light about 35 meters from you. |
