I received a CED M2 chrono the other day, late Christmas present.
I bought a tripod from Wally World last night, a Targa something-or-other. I mounted everything up and this thing shakes like a crack addict on the third day of detox. Seems muzzle blast would really get this thing rocking. I realize I bought cheap, but, I figured it would be more sturdy than this. All the movement comes from the "head" of the tripod. Would a better made unit resolve this? Those of you that have experience with tripods and chronos, Are they usually mounted pretty sturdy? I would think shaking like this, it would throw the sensor readings out of whack or something. |

Have you tried to turn the handle to tighten the head. (up and down) also tighten down the pan lock (side to tside) Tightened them both until I was afraid to break them. Quoted:
OP Been there done that. Just get a better tripod and move the chrono further away from the muzzle, like about 10ft. Get one with solid legs, that is better especially once you extend them to raise the chrono. SY I was afraid of that. Maybe I'll get some epoxy or something and make the whole head rigid or something like that. |
