So I'm trying out TAC in my RRA .223 1:8
So far no luck at all With 55gr. I have went up to 25.5gr. Tac, average groups are over 1" With 60gr. Vmax I have went up to 24.4, just under 1.5" average groups. Also it is very dirty, cases have lots of residue most of the way down. Wondering if TAC needs to be run closer to Max loads to perfom its best ? However H-335 and 55gr. bullets are Running Sweet, pretty clean and very accurate. Sure would like to run 60gr. bullets Accuratly |

I run the TAC in a 1-8 RRA 20" NM barrel
24.5 gr and a 55 gr Barnes MPG . Shoots 1/2" or better 23.7 gr and a 69 gr Sierra Match King...same, easy 1/2" groups 23.1 gr with the 77 gr SMK...Right around 1.875 @ 200 yds, so far. I've not had much luck with Hornady bullets personally, except for the 55gr fmj's. And they are the best FMJ I've loaded yet at 25 grains of TAC |

Vmax I have went up to 24.4, just under 1.5" average groups. Also it is very dirty, cases have lots of residue most of the way down. I have always been much dirtier with H335 Wondering if TAC needs to be run closer to Max loads to perfom its best ? Yes and no, you can find accuracy nodes below max, but it goes seem to run cleaner near the top However H-335 and 55gr. bullets are Running Sweet, pretty clean and very accurate. Sure would like to run 60gr. bullets Accuratly Sometimes, a powder just won't do what you want it to in your gun, I had that issue with BL-C2 and with TAC, have found some bullets and bullet weights that I can't get it to shoot well in My gun (60-69gr). |

I run Tac in a douglas 18 in 1/7 spr profile barrel and get .50 groups at 100 yrs all day. All rounds will be touching like the pic above.. I find that the powder is not any dirtier than any other powders. I have to clean it anyways
Win. brass 1.750 2.250 CCI 400 primers 77 gr SMK OTM 23.8 powder medium crimp LEE FC I plan on working a load with Nosler 77 gr OTM and IMR 8208 XBR since I have 8 lbs of it |

I like Tac, and run it in 55 and 62 gr FMJBT's. Can't be beat if you run a progressive. I also use other powders, but this is a Tac thread.
A tumbler will remove the grunge on cases, and you have to clean an AR anyway, so clean or not, no issue for me. If your loads aren't working out, try a different bullet. Sometimes it makes a world of difference. Some guns just don't like certain bullet/powder combinations. |
