Has anyone reloaded the 5.7 round? If so what were your experiences?

Do you mean the 5.7 x 28?  I did some reloading for it when my son had a FN PS90.  Used Accurate #7 powder and a 33 grain Speer TNT.  8 grains of powder gave 2600 fps. Accuracy seemed to be as good as factory ammo.

The round was kind of a pain to load for back then as dies and shell holders were not too common.  Took a lot of work to get a RCBS shell holder to work.  Perhaps most important is that the brass has a coating on in and you should not tumble it, rather wash it with Simple Green to clean it.  Seems this coating helps with extraction.  Of course I found this out after tumbling the brass and had an occasional failure to extract. with the ammo we reload.

I reload for every caliber I shoot, 8 rifle and 6 handgun, and feel it is worth doing for those.  Not sure I would say the same for the 5.7 x 28.  Have to say when my son sold that gun, it sure didn't hurt my feelings.

Thank You acpchuck!

I am thinking about picking up a 5.7 pistol and maybe the 5.7 full auto upper for my M16. You gave me more info then anyone has.

Happy New Year!
