Can LEE dies be used on this press. I think I read some where they might be too short. I'm getting thr press for Christmas Thanks for any help on this question |

The only set of Lee dies I own are .40 S&W + a few Factory crimp dies. They work on My L-n-L, in fact I loaded 250 the other day for my buddy. The lock ring ends up being at the top of the die, but they work fine for me. As a side note: Like said above, I LOVE the Hornady dies, that's all I've bought recently. The RCBS dies themselves are OK, but the lock ring SUCKS. I have many of those, but I don't buy them anymore. I may buy some lock rings from Hornady to use on the RCBS dies. I actually have an RCBS .357 die set that came with the Hornady style lock ring... they are OLD!! |

thanks guys. I have to order the shell plates but after spending a small fortune on Christmas. I'll buy some Hornady dies later for 38 spl and 9mm. I have Foster match dies for my 223 but I do have the LEE factory crimp for 223. I pretty excited about getting this thing set up. I use a Redding Big Boss SS and I don't mind loading rifle ammo with it but pistol ammo in a pain in the A$$.
Have a great Christmas today and may God bless all of you and your families. firemedic out.... |

Current production Lee dies are long enough, though with not a lot of length to spare.
Older Lee dies can be a problem. I have a set of .308 dies purchased in 1989 that are held in the bushing by a set screw as the lock ring flat out will not work. Exactly when the transition occurred I don't know. |

darn you right I forgot all about that. I'll email Midway right now ![]() You need to claim them from Hornady w/ the claim form you can download off their site. Midway has nothing to do with it, other than you need a copy of the receipt. (instructions are on the "get loaded form". |

I have one set of Lee dies (9mm Makarov) that I use in my Hornady LNL, and they work fine. However, I buy the Hornady dies whenever they're available for a couple of reasons:
- I like the lock ring. - The Hornady dies come with a box large enough to store the dies with the bushings installed, and that is one of the big advantages of the LNL system –– you can just twist the dies in and out without affecting the adjustment. So, you'll definitely want to buy enough bushings to cover all of your dies. For my Lee 9mm Mak dies, I had to Dremel the crap out of the box to make them fit with bushings installed, and even now it's a tight fit. |
