Welcome to Arfcom.

Get a reloading manual, any powder listed will load good ammo.

Top of the page in Tutorials, is a 4 part "how to load 223" step by step with pics.

Check out the FAQ's while your up there.

eta, I would suggest Tac powder as a place to start.

+1 for Varget.  Vihtavuori make very clean burning powders but they are more expensive...my favorite thought.  I use N133 for 55 and 62gr rounds and the N140 for 69, 75 and 77gr bullets.

I prefer N130, N133 and N140 for the very same reason.

Vith is the cleanest powder I've used in an AR platform.  Shot a few hundred reloads with N133 and it probally compares to shooting less than 2 mags of reloads with H335.  I was quite surprised at how much cleaner Vihtavuori is.  Downside is Vihtavuori is $42 more than H335 and $49 more than TAC in 8lbs according to Powder Valley Inc.  Not really that much more but it is a factor.

Also what is the goal of your ammo.  It might be very worth while to reload or a waste of your time depending if you want just plinking ammo or super duper ninja blow up your opponent ammo.

... and - of course - it doesn't meter as well as ball powders. That doesn't keep me from using it almost solely for all the different calibers I reload, though.

Would of been better to just IM daybreak619, then you can say what you want. You were ok until the "comp you nicley" part.
