Bullets from precision delta: http://www.precisiondelta.com/
I am current tinkering with loads trying to find the magic one. 5.4gr of Clays Universal behind a 185 LSWC seems to work good. I'm also reloading 200gr LRNFP with 5.0 gr of HP38, but that didn't seem as accurate. I always use mixed brass. |

Winchester Large Pistol
Power? Tough one since there are probably dozens that work well in the .45 AA#5, W231, H. Universal, WST are all good choices. Lots of the older guys like Unique because it has been around forever, but H. Universal performs the same and is about 89 million times cleaner. Bullseye is the traditional powder for very light target loads. If I had to pick one as a general purpose .45 acp powder I'd go with Universal. |

I do 5 grains of Bullseye and a 200 gr LSWC from J&K Bullet Casters with WLP primers. I'd have to double check my OAL, but it's a little less than the 230 FMJ. Feeds well and is accurate out of all of my 1911's.
I will change from Bullseye to something else....as soon as I run out. It is pretty dirty. I've used Unique as well, and the can says "cleaner burning formula" but I'd hate to see what it used to be like?! |

Look through a manual or 2 before buying componenets. Hornady has a number of loads on their web site as well.
I have used/do use CCI and Winchester large pistol primers W231, HP38, Unique, and Bullesye powders Missouri Bullet 230 LRN and 200 LFPRN, Laser Cast 200 LSWC, Berry's 200, and many other cast 200 LSWC |

ok so winchester large pistol primers
powder: bullseye pistol powder bullets:hornandy 230 gr. round nose fmj carbide dies. an a good pistol loading book? |

For my plinking load, the first couple thousand I loaded up were 230gr lead round nose being pushed by 3.9gr of Clays (max is 4.0). It's a nice, soft shooting load. I've loaded some with Power Pistol too, if you want something with more pop, I like that powder. I've not yet loaded any FMJ but I might start buying some plated bullets instead of lead, since they aren't that much more expensive and the guns are kept cleaner. |

Anything but Unique powder. ![]() I love Unique , but I use Bulleseye in .45 ACP . have it in stock , It is economical . And I do not use it ( currently ) for other calibers . I am loading 5 grains of Bullseye with 200 & 230 grain home cast bullets . Primers are what ever brand I have on the shelf . Shot in 1911's . God bless Wyr |

Anything but Unique powder. ![]() That's what I used when I first started loading for .45 and will never use it again. I would always have flakes of unburnt powder on my arms after shooting. I mainly use tightgroup, clays is pretty good too. This does not bother me , I am going to clean the gun anyway . God bless Wyr |

The load I've settled on is 7.0 grains of Unique in whatever brass I have on hand, WLP primer, and either the Rainier Ballistics 200 grain hollowpoint or Speer's 200 grain Gold Dot. Actually, when I load the Gold Dots I usually put them in TZZ or Speer cases I know are once-fired. Muzzle velocity from a Government-sized Kimber Classic Stainless is just a hair under 1000fps. I use this load for bowling pins, and if I do my part right they carry the pins right off the table. The Rainier bullets are about half the cost of Gold Dots and shoot exactly the same. The Gold Dot is my defensive load, the Rainiers are my target load.
For my Kimber Ultra CDPII I use Speer's 230 grain Gold Dot for short barrels and 5.9 grains of Unique. |

It was not that long ago maybe a a few months and i was on here asking the same questions.I am a somewhat experienced reloader also.
I used to reload pretty heavy back in early to late 1980's to early 90's but took a long break until this last year or so.Here is some into i got and some loads that work for me shoot'n out of my XDM 45 and Kimber Crimson carry Ultra II...useing lee carbide dies w.FCD. I also learned from my old post neck dia is important....469 to .471 useing my Lee FCD. Montana Gold Bullets 230gr HP Titegroup 4.9gr CCI 300 1.230 OAL neck @ .470 Hornady Swaged Lead RN 230gr Clays 4.0 WLP 1.230 OAL neck .470 Rainier 230 gr Copper Plated (500 rd pack from Midway) Titegroup 4.7 WLP 1.260 OAL neck .470 I have tryed others and used Unique and bullseye but really like Titegroup and Clays(the regular Clays) get some reloading manuals and work some up 10% from max loads listed.I gave up on SWC bullets my guns just too finnicky with them. |

i am using rainier 230gr. plated bullets. i get may 10 buckles out of a hundred. i diagnosed the problem as not enough expansion an to much crimp. got the exspansion fixed. now i am barely crimping the case. i think i had 8 out of the last hundred.
also what to do with buckle cases? Thanks to all of u for the help!! |

4.0g of N310 Vihtavouri 200g LSWC from Oregon Trail WLP Starline brass 1.250 OAL There is a guy who builds 1911s named Bill Wilson. Some people really like his work & pay a LOT of money for one of his guns. I believe he sends out a test target with every gun; usually showing one ragged hole or a cloverleaf pattern. Also fairly sure your load matches the Bill Wilson accuracy load. If anyone balks at the price of N310, you might try Solo 1000 or Clays. |

Both are in the same burn-rate area as the Bullseye you use now & both are similar to Bullseye in price/availability. |
