I just picked up a used RCBS Powder Pro scale made by PACT.  I can't get it to calibrate at all.  I have performed the factory reset since it gave me an ERR1 when I tried to calibrate it for the first time.  I have tried to calibrate for small and large loads.  If I calibrate for a small load the numbers jump to numbers such as -308, -450, -615, etc.  If I can get it to calibrate to 0.00 it doesn't read the tray or the 20 gram check weight.  I am going to call PACT on Monday but I wanted to see if anyone had the tech reset key sequence.  I could return to the seller and get a refund on it, but if I can get it to work I will be content.

First is it level warmed up? Is it near any errant breezes such as from A/C (window or central), ceiling or floor fans even in the next room? Cordless phones especially those that are off the base? If on batteries are they known to be good? Digital scales are terrible for these things. If these are all good to go and you are doing the calibration according to instructions then you may have been sold a bad unit.

I let it warm up for several hours and made sure the AC fan was off to rule that out.

I'm doing the calibration per the manual including the factory reset procedure.

On a hunch I ran back to my reloading room and did the calibration again.  This time after the calibration was complete I put the unit in grams mode (since the check weights are in grams) and the issue is that the zero is off.  My 50 gram check weight is weighing in at 30 grams.  Odd.

I saw a few references to support resetting the zero through several key sequences, but I haven't been able to locate the specific sequence and I was hoping to get this up and running over the weekend.

I am not familiar with that unit, I have one made by pact and not for rcbs. The scale was gummed up a bit so I had to send it in to be fixed and it works just fine now. Another thought is I have heard that sometimes flourescent lights can affect the scales as well. Granted this is probably something you have already done but is the scale level?

Outside of all that I would probably call pact on monday. Can you tell if anything had gotten in the area where the platten is? maybe something had gotten spilled and is messing things up?  Just a thought here. If you needs pact's information just go to their website. Just so you know the guy that answers the phone is nice and helpful.
