| So I have been reloading mild Cowboy loads for this but would like to reload some hotter loads. Anybody know how they compare to the Ruger ( I'm sure nowhere near) but can I safely shoot hotter reloads and commercial 45LC loads? |

Anybody know how they compare to the Ruger ( I'm sure nowhere near) but can I safely shoot hotter reloads and commercial 45LC loads? The Gaucho and New Vaquero are SAA sized. I would not run hot loads out of either. It is not a Super Blackhawk/Redhawk/Anaconda. Personally, I would get the New Vaquero, as the Gaucho is discontinued. |

8.5 - 9 grains of unique or 35 - 40 grains of black under a cast 265 grain flat point is all you would ever need out to 100 yards (wood chuck to griz). it worked in 1873 and it still works today. these are both standard pressure loads. remember the 45 colt was designed to take the horse out from under the rider.
i agree with the poster who recommended the ruger. |
