So I am playing with a 69gr. SMK HPBT. I seated 5 rounds a little deep,2.224 instead of 2.244.
Should I pull these and start them over, or is .020 not worrysome.
Using minimum charge, not sure if that matters. 23.6 grs.

New to reloadin, so wanna do it right.
Thanks

Yes, pull them apart and start over.

It's a lot cheaper than a new rifle.

If you have a kenitic bullet puller & have not crimped them, give em a few whacks until they are slightly long & then seat them back to where you want them.

If you did crimp them, pull bullets & individual charges, just re-expand the neck by running the case neck back over the expanding ball without running the case fully into the die (don't have to full length size), pour the powder back into the same case & re seat the bullets.  No lube, no re-weighing charges.

With the mild load & extra long bullet jump, you should be able to shoot them as is without any dangerous pressure concerns but it is doubtful you would get decent results due to the inconsistant burn/pressure curve.

Seating bullets a little deep is one of the tricks for reducing chamber pressures in hot loads.

What is you powder and charge? One manual's starting load is sometimes close to another one's mid range or higher.

I doubt you will have any issues shooting those as they are. With only a starting load for a powder charge, the amount of case capacity consumed by seating the bullet too deep will not have as much of an effect as if you were running a hotter charge.

Use a chronograph if you have one. Check each and every ejected case one at a time until you are sure you aren't getting high pressure signs.

I seat 69 grain SMK's @ 2.250" oal.

Either pull them part way and reseat, or shoot them.

Why the wierd lengths?  The 69 grain MK can be seated out to 2.26 inches, or 2.25 if you're extra worried about magazine function.

It would help if you named the powder.

I seat 69 gr Sierra HPBT's to 2.250 also.

Was dyslexic while I was writing and got the OAL numbers mixed.
Am shooting Vihtavouri N-140. Their site calls for OAL at 2.244.
I will just pull the 5 rounds I made apart and start from scratch.

Thanks everyone.

You can seat them anywhere you want, but seating to Max Mag length 2.26 has been the standard for accuracy, as it seats the bullet closer to the lands.
There have been reports in this very category (reloading forum) of seating deeper and having better results.
So,... it shows you that what works for one mans rifle, powder (and measuring device), primer, bullet, and brass, is all his own interpretation of accuracy and safety.
Yours may be Very different, work up from the minimum, and take baby steps, or we might be calling you 3 fingered Clay.

2.235" OAL works well in a bolt gun or for single loading using a AR.
No problems holding < 2.260 for mag-length ammo. It will help to pre-measure each bullet and segregate them by length. Each box of 69 Sierra Matchkings will invariably have a few short bullets and extremely long bullets when compared to the average length's in a box.

Sorting is not necessary if the COAL is adjusted to accomodate the longest bullets.  Shooting for 2.25 inches pretty well guarantee every bullet in a box will produce a COAL 2.26 or less.  I always get fair uniformity from boxed bullets, the real problem comes from the seconds I shoot.

One the COAL for the magazine is satisfied, the seater die should be left alone so every bullet is seated to the same depth.  This is one step to uniformity that is more important than the COAL over the useful range of these bullets.
